We all think we know what we are doing when it comes to business. Plain and simple, we are the entrepreneur, the master, the co-creator of the vision that is coming to life. How could we ever be wrong? Well, if you take a long, cold, hard look at the reality of what some of you are doing, you will notice that you are making mistakes. Lots of them.

You are probably not be making them intentionally, but making mistakes nonetheless. Seriously, you say, how could I be making mistakes in my business? Well, first of all, are you doing what you love 99% of the time? Likely, your answer will be a clear and solid NO.

After working with hundreds of entrepreneurs and business owners since 2008, I’ve found that there are 3 things that most people do wrong in business. If you have any inkling that you are not fulfilling your passion to the total maximum of your abilities daily, have a look below and see if you can identify ways to fix your business boo-boos asap.

1-Filling Time

Do you have a jam packed schedule filled with meetings, appointments, errands, or client follow ups that you barely have time to eat on a regular basis? Likely, this is your first mistake in business. I’ve always thought that it is sorta ironic that business can be broken into “busy-ness”, always making me think of a crazy old lady who is running around like a chicken with her head cut off most of the time. Even though the irony of it is there, didn’t we start a business to avoid being ‘busy’ on someone else’s watch? What about your watch? Your own finite time on the planet, isn’t that what you are vying for protecting?

Have a look at your calendar and eliminate ALL time fillers that are uneccessary, unproductive and futile in fruition of actual cold, hard business. You will find that you will make more room for more productive work, increase time for yourself and your family, and actually use your ‘filled time’ most efficiently rather than just by being ‘busy’ in business.

2-Wasting Time

It’s 2:00pm, no worries. Loads of time to get stuff done! All of a sudden it’s 6:00pm and you’ve got nada done. Shoot! Now you have to stay at the office or on your laptop until 8 or 9 and have to miss your daughter’s dance recitial or spending dinner with your partner. You were really looking forward to the pasta he promised to make on his cooking night. Ouch. Another night in the office.

Does this sound like you? Are you spending most of your day LIKING and commenting on irrelevant posts on Faceobok or getting sucked into the eternal abyss of Social Media while telling yourself that this is ‘research’ and you just need to know who’s following who and what they’re posting on your competitor’s page?

Reality check: YOU HAVE THE SAME AMOUNT OF HOURS AS BEYONCE.

Think about that one and figure out where you are wasting your time. Eliminate “time wasters” promptly and move forward with your goals.

3-Fear of Success

This one, I must say, is probably the biggest mistake people make in their business that I have seen to date. I’ve heard everything from “My product/service isn’t good enough to pitch on Dragon’s Den” to “I just want to keep my company small, you know, local. I can’t handle any more customers.”

Fear of being successful creeps up on all of us. From not wanting people to ‘recognize our faces’ when we are uber successful to being shy about our really excellent line of accessories, THE FEAR of being successful will stop you from being successful every single time. Wake up and smell the roses ladies! If you are too scared, too shy, or too timid to get out there and promote your AWESOME SELF, no one is going to do it for you….and that, will lead to your own demise. 10-4? Do you copy?

Now, get back to your ‘busy-ness’ and have a good look at what you can do to stop making these mistakes which are all preventing you from having the absolute life that you want.
